The Logo
What each element of the logo means…
The inspiration of the logo came from the legend of the IFR/VFR Sectional. Each element is a component that every aviator/pilot would recognize, but also represents what the company is and provides.
The Compass: The purpose of a compass is to provide direction; to know where you are going and where you are headed. Prior to my senior year of college, I knew nothing of military aviation. I knew that it existed…nothing else follows. Once I knew that it was possible to be an aviator, I did everything in my power to get to where I am today (that is a story for another day). Your takeaway: It is The Flight Company’s purpose to point those who desire to serve as military aviators, in the right direction. We are your True North.
The T and F: are representative of runways. Runways are meant to allow you to build speed and momentum, to execute a takeoff, and, are long or short, but level, to allow you to slow down and to land safely. Your takeaway: Life is a runway. Sometimes you takeoff and other times, you land; sometimes the takeoff is smooth; sometimes the landing is rough; improved or unimproved. 1) Be the runway, providing an opportunity for someone, 2) use the runway, to build your momentum and takeoff, or 3) fly something that doesn’t require runways ;)
The Star: a homage to the weekend warrior, represents part time operation. The founder of The Flight Company is an Aviator in the U.S. Army Reserve. The term “reservist” and its association with “part-time” service carries a negative and exhausting connotation. Your takeaway: Let’s just say that aviation in the reserves is a full-time commitment with part time recognition. Nothing, and I mean nothing, about military aviation, in any capacity, is part-time. Respect.
The Co: indicative of company, is surrounded by two circles representing military. Your takeoff: Let us show you military aviation
The Circle with Tic Marks: If you are familiar with the legend on a IFR/VFR sectional, the circle with tic marks is representative of airports with services. The tic marks on our logo are indicative of the four characteristics that make up The Flight Company (Qualitative, informative, inspirational, and authentic). Your takeaway: This isn’t just a website that sells merch or promotes a cool guy club. If you love aviation or want to learn more about it, this is the place for you. We are here to serve.
